Former CEO, Information Resources, Inc., Broderbund Software Inc., Advo

Joe Durrett is the former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Information Resources Inc. During his tenure there, he implemented a restructuring of the company that reduced costs, stabilized the U.S. customer base, improved the profitability of European operations, and leveraged the value of IRI's data and insights on consumer attitudes and behavior.

Prior to joining IRI, Mr. Durrett was president and chief executive officer of Broderbund Software Inc., a leading consumer software company that developed such well-known titles as Print Shop, Myst, Carmen Sandiego, Family Tree Maker and Riven. Mr. Durrett was CEO of the company from 1996 until its merger with The Learning Company in 1998. Under his leadership, Broderbund outpaced its peer group with revenue growth of more than 60 percent and profit growth of more than 20 percent in the fiscal year prior to the announcement of its merger. Mr. Durrett was instrumental in the company's sale to The Learning Company, which produced a significant gain in value for Broderbund shareholders.

From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Durrett was president, chief operating officer and a director of Advo, Inc., the largest full-service targeted direct mail marketing services company in the United States. With full profit and loss responsibility, Mr. Durrett helped the company achieve profit growth of more than 70 percent and sales growth of more than 28 percent over three years.

Before joining Advo, Mr. Durrett spent 12 years - from 1980 to 1992 - at Kraft and Kraft General Foods, units of Philip Morris Cos. During this time, he held a variety of senior positions including senior vice president of KGF Sales, where he was functionally responsible for $28 billion in sales with primary focus on $16 billion in North American revenue. He was also president of Kraft's grocery products group, where he was responsible for a 2,700-person organization with $6 billion in revenue.
