CEO BOOT CAMPS
CEO Boot Camps are private meetings of the best and brightest CEOs from companies with at least US$100 million in sales. Through a series of candid round-table discussions, they help participants tackle issues unique to their positions, facilitate a mutual understanding and create long-term peer relationships. Each event is moderated by a group of top functional experts.
Each Boot Camp's agenda begins with an opening reception, dinner and discussion on the evening before the main event. This helps CEOs settle into the program and get to know other attendees. The dinner is headlined by a senior CEO who shares his or her own personal leadership experiences with the audience. Past speakers include Leonard Lauder (Estée Lauder), John Pepper (P&G), Fernando Aguirre (Chiquita Brands) and David Pottruck (Charles Schwab).
The program continues throughout the next day, during which functional experts lead interactive peer discussions. Each Boot Camp covers major themes critical to the success of CEOs, such as leadership, stewardship, human capital and communication. Small breaks between discussions give participants a chance to follow up with each other on specific topics.
CEO Boot Camps are not just about the program. They're about connecting with men and women in C-level positions who face similar challenges. Each Boot Camp is limited to 12 individuals who meet strict membership criteria. The personal and intimate nature of the event serves as a foundation for many long-term relationships, as well as a base for future relationships developed through CEO Connection.
The participation fee for CEO Boot Camps is $10,000. It entitles participants to the main Boot Camp event as well as the dinner and speech by a senior CEO the night before
CEO Boot Camps were originally devised to help CEOs succeed at their jobs. The statistics are still compelling: more than 40% of new CEOs fail in their first 18 months, while those recruited from outside an organization fail even more frequently. The event now accommodates seasoned CEOs, who provide a valuable perspective to their less-experienced counterparts while developing their own peer connections.
